Nifty Folder Compare
Compare two folders: see which files were added, removed or changed in a tree, open side-by-side diffs, ignore whitespace or line endings, and copy files across.
Maintained. No sign-in. No telemetry. Works in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VSCodium and other editors that use Open VSX.
Features
- Compare any two folders. Select two folders in the Explorer and choose Compare Folders…. Or right-click one and choose Select for Folder Compare, then right-click the other and choose Compare with Selected Folder. They don't need to be in the workspace.
- See what changed at a glance. A Folder Compare view in the Explorer shows added, removed and changed files in a tree, with counts per folder. Identical files are hidden, or shown if you want them.
- Side-by-side diffs. Click a changed file to open it in VS Code's diff editor. Files that exist on only one side open directly.
- Ignore what doesn't matter. Line endings (CRLF vs LF) are ignored by default. You can also ignore trailing whitespace, all whitespace, or letter case. Binary files are compared byte for byte, and
.git and node_modules are skipped.
- Copy files across with the arrow buttons on each file. You're asked before anything is overwritten.
- Sync folders. Copy every new and changed file from one side to the other in one step. Nothing is ever deleted.
- Swap sides and refresh from the view's title bar.
- Works in the browser on vscode.dev and github.dev.

This extension collects no telemetry and needs no account.
