Nifty SQLite
Browse and query SQLite databases: tables and views in the side bar, a fast grid for any table, SQL queries with results, and export to CSV or JSON, with no native modules.
Maintained. No sign-in. No telemetry. Works in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VSCodium and other editors that use Open VSX.
Features

- Open a database like a file.
.sqlite, .sqlite3 and .db3 files open straight into the viewer; .db files via Open With… or the Explorer's right-click menu. Tables and views are listed on the left with their columns. Click one to see its rows.
- Query with SQL. Type any query and press Ctrl+Enter. Results are paged, so huge tables stay fast; the total row count is shown, and clicking a column header sorts by it.
- Run SQL from your editor. In a
.sql file, Ctrl+Enter (or the ▶ button) runs the selection or the whole file on a database. It asks which one the first time and remembers it for that file.
- Safe by default. Browsing can never change a database: statements that write (INSERT, UPDATE, CREATE…) are refused unless you turn on
nifty.sqlite.allowWrites. With it on, changes are saved to the file right away.
- Export any result to CSV or JSON, sorted as shown.
- No native modules. SQLite runs as WebAssembly (sql.js), so it works the same on Windows, macOS, Linux, remote hosts, and in Cursor, Windsurf and VSCodium. There's nothing to compile or install.
- Viewers reload when the database changes on disk. You're warned when a write-ahead log (
-wal file) holds changes that aren't in the main file yet.
- Works in the browser on vscode.dev and github.dev.
