Find and replace across files with a preview of every change, regex groups and case transforms, case-preserving replace, and search results you can edit and apply back.

Features
- Replace across files, safely. Replace in Files (with Preview) (
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H, or the button on the Search view) lists every change in VS Code's Refactor Preview. Nothing changes until you tick the files (or single changes) you want and press Apply, and you can undo it all in one step if you change your mind.
- Replacements that do what you mean.
$1, $& and named groups: search (?<first>\w+) (?<last>\w+), replace $<last>, $<first>- case changes:
\U$1\E (upper), \L$1\E (lower), \u$1 (capitalise), \l$1
- Preserve Case: replacing
user with account turns User into Account and USER into ACCOUNT
- Edit search results like a file. Search into an Editable List opens every matching line in an editor, prefixed with
file:line:. Use multi-cursor, find and replace, or plain typing to change them, then press Ctrl+S to write every changed line back to its file. Lines that changed on disk since the search are skipped, never overwritten. F12 or Ctrl+click opens a line in its file.
- Respects your excludes:
node_modules, .git, search.exclude and files.exclude are left out, binary and huge files are skipped, and unsaved changes in open editors are searched.
- Keyboard friendly: toggle regex, match case, whole word and preserve case with the buttons in the input box; your choices are remembered.
- Works in the browser on vscode.dev and github.dev.
