Nifty Vertical Tabs
All your open tabs in a side bar list: grouped by editor group or folder, with unsaved and pinned markers, close buttons, and named tab sets you can save and bring back.
Maintained. No sign-in. No telemetry. Works in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VSCodium and other editors that use Open VSX.
Features
- Every open tab in a list. The Tabs view in the activity bar shows all your open tabs as a vertical list, so dozens of tabs stay readable instead of shrinking into the tab bar. Click one to switch to it. Files show their icons, and unsaved (●), pinned (📌) and preview tabs are marked.
- Grouped the way you think. Group by editor group (a flat list when you have only one), by folder, or not at all. Sort in opening order or by name. Collapse the groups you aren't using.
- Tidy up fast. Close a tab, a whole group or everything but the selection with inline buttons and multi-select. Close Saved Tabs clears everything except unsaved and pinned tabs. Pin and unpin from the list.
- Tab sets. Save the tabs you have open under a name ("Login bug", "Release notes") and open them again later, in the same editor groups and with the same pins. Sets are kept per workspace.
- Works with every kind of tab: text files, diffs, notebooks, custom editors, webviews and terminals in the editor area.
- Works in the browser on vscode.dev and github.dev.

Tip: drag the Tabs view into the Secondary Side Bar to keep it beside the Explorer.

This extension collects no telemetry and needs no account.
