Nifty Run
Everything you can run in one view: npm, pnpm and yarn scripts, make and just targets, Python and Go entry points, .NET, Cargo and Docker Compose. Run, debug or save to tasks.json.
Maintained. No sign-in. No telemetry. Works in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VSCodium and other editors that use Open VSX.
Features

- Everything runnable, in one list. The Run view in the Explorer shows what this project can run, found automatically:
- npm, pnpm, yarn and bun scripts, in every package of a monorepo, run with the package manager the lock file says you use
- Makefile targets (with
## comments as descriptions) and justfile recipes
- Python scripts with an
if __name__ == "__main__": block
- Go
main packages, .NET apps, Cargo binaries
- Docker Compose services, Deno tasks and Composer scripts
- Run or debug with one click. Runs go to a task terminal. npm scripts, Python scripts and Go programs can be debugged directly, with no launch configuration to write first.
- Save it for later. Save as Task adds the command to
.vscode/tasks.json; Save as Launch Configuration adds a debug configuration to launch.json. Existing comments are kept, and saving again updates the entry instead of adding a copy.
- Keyboard first. Run… (
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R) searches everything by name, command or file, with what you ran recently at the top. Run Last Again is Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L.
- Always up to date: add a script or target and it appears.
- Works in the browser on vscode.dev and github.dev. There it finds everything runnable, copies commands and saves tasks and launch configurations; running and debugging are desktop-only.

Debugging Python needs the Python Debugger extension and Go needs the Go extension; npm scripts use VS Code's built-in JavaScript debugger.
