Semantic Researcher Overleaf Remote Pack

This extension lets Semantic Researcher Overleaf complete browser-based login from a VS Code Remote window.

When the main extension runs on a remote extension host, it cannot control your local desktop browser directly. The Remote Pack runs in the local VS Code UI extension host, opens Chrome, Edge, or Chromium on your desktop, waits for you to sign in to Overleaf, and returns the session cookies to the main extension.

Browser login uses a dedicated extension-owned profile, never your normal browser profile. On first use per server, choose Remember Login Browser to retain its Overleaf and any Google/SSO sessions for future logins, or Use Once to delete it after the attempt. Remembered sessions can still expire or be revoked. Only cookies applicable to the Overleaf URL are returned to the requesting extension.

Run Overleaf Remote Pack: Clear Remembered Login Browser Session from the Command Palette to remove the selected server's remembered profile and reset its consent choice. Close all dedicated login browsers for that server in every VS Code window first. An active login in this extension host prevents clearing; browsers in other windows rely on Chromium's profile lock and must be closed manually before clearing. This does not log out the main extension or your normal browser.

Profiles are isolated by server URL and browser executable. Changing browserPath selects an executable, not a normal browser profile, and may require signing in once again. POSIX profile directories are restricted where supported; Windows inherits the VS Code storage ACLs. Remembered browser storage may contain sensitive Google/SSO session data and is not a guarantee of encryption.

The Chromium sandbox remains enabled; Playwright's basic-password-store and mock-keychain defaults are excluded. Linux credential-store protection depends on a working configured keyring. Run browser login as a normal desktop user; root environments that cannot run the sandbox should use a local desktop Remote Pack instead of disabling it.

Usage

Install this Remote Pack in your local desktop VS Code, and install Semantic Researcher Overleaf in the remote window. Then choose Login in Browser from the main extension.

In a normal local VS Code window, this extension is not required.
