Norra

A dark, almost sinister theme built around deep blue-gray backgrounds and a restrained palette of soft shades.

Norra means “northern” in Swedish, a nod the the place where it was born.

Norra takes inspiration from November in Scandinavia (IYKYK): no sun, no snow, no fallen leaves, and wet asphalt. It captures the feeling of making your own fun when the season offers little of its own.

The idea for this theme came from a drizzly walk along the Österåker shoreline. It felt strangely peaceful: cold archipelago waters beneath steel skies, fog so thick I couldn't see Svinninge, and seagulls here and there.

Install

Build and install the extension from this directory:

npx @vscode/vsce package --out norra.vsix
code --install-extension norra.vsix

Then choose Norra from Preferences: Color Theme.
