Git Pointers Compare

Install it from the Visual Studio Marketplace.

Compare any two Git points in VS Code and open a labeled side-by-side diff.

Pick a Left point and a Right point: branches, tags, commits, HEAD, a revision such as HEAD~3, the working tree, or the index. The changed files appear as a list or a collapsible tree. Click a file to open the diff. The left side of the diff is the Left point, and the right side is the Right point.

Use

1. Open the Git Compare view from the activity bar.
2. Select Left and Right.
3. Click a changed file.

Swap exchanges the two sides. Toggle List / Tree changes how the files are shown. Nothing is reordered automatically, so two parallel branches stay on the sides you chose.
