SAP TCode Runner
Run SAP transactions directly inside VS Code — stop switching between IDEs.

Why This Extension Exists
SAP's development ecosystem is moving to VS Code. With the rise of ABAP Cloud, SAP Business Application Studio, and the ABAP Development Tools (ADT), VS Code has become the primary IDE for modern SAP development. SAP Fiori, CAP, RAP, and even classic ABAP development are all converging on VS Code as the standard toolchain.
But here's the problem: even as developers spend most of their day in VS Code writing ABAP, Fiori, or CDS code, they still need to jump to SAP GUI to run transaction codes. Whether it's SE38 to test a program, SM37 to check a job, SPRO for customizing, or MM01 to create a material — these everyday tasks still require opening SAP GUI, logging in, and navigating away from your code editor.
Switching between VS Code and SAP GUI breaks your flow. You lose context, waste time, and disrupt the focus that makes you productive.
SAP TCode Runner solves this. It embeds SAP WebGUI directly inside VS Code, so you can run any SAP transaction without leaving your editor. Type a TCode, press Enter, and SAP opens right next to your code. Favorites and recent history keep your most-used transactions one click away.
Access & Approval
This extension requires approval before use.
SAP TCode Runner connects to your organization's SAP system. To ensure controlled and authorized access, an approval workflow is in place:

Why an approval layer?
- SAP systems contain sensitive business data and financial records
- Uncontrolled access to transaction codes can lead to unauthorized changes
- The approval process ensures only authorized developers in your organization use this tool
- It keeps usage traceable and auditable

Features
- Run any SAP transaction from the Command Palette or the sidebar —
SE38, MM01, SPRO, VA01, anything
- Embedded in VS Code — SAP WebGUI opens inside VS Code's Simple Browser, right next to your code
- Sidebar panel with TCode input, favorites list, and recent history
- SSO/SAML support — handles your organization's single sign-on natively through the built-in proxy
- Favorites — star frequently used transactions for one-click access
- Recent history — automatically remembers your last transactions across sessions
- Browser fallback — optionally open transactions in your system browser instead
- Persistent state — favorites and recent list survive VS Code restarts
How It Works
SAP TCode Runner uses your organization's SAP WebGUI endpoint to render SAP transactions inside VS Code. A lightweight local proxy handles authentication cookies, SSO redirects, and content-security headers so the SAP interface loads cleanly inside the editor.
VS Code --> Local Proxy (localhost) --> SAP WebGUI Server
|
+-- Handles SSO/SAML redirects
+-- Manages session cookies
+-- Strips X-Frame-Options headers
No data leaves your machine beyond the normal SAP WebGUI connection your browser would already make.
