The Azure Naming Convention Tool extension by Clovernance helps teams generate and validate Azure resource names based on your organization's naming conventions.

Requirements

Visual Studio Code 1.90 or newer (or editors compatible with VS Code 1.90+ APIs)

Quick Start

Welcome!

This extension helps you improve your cloud governance and allows you to ship Azure infrastructure faster without breaking naming standards.

  1. Create an account on Clovernance. Create a project and customize it to your organization's needs.

  2. Install the Azure Naming Convention Tool extension.

  3. Sign in to your Clovernance account by opening the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P on Linux/Windows and Cmd+Shift+P on Mac), and then typing in the command name: Sign In | Azure Naming Convention Tool | Clovernance.

  4. Generate Azure resource names by opening the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P on Linux/Windows and Cmd+Shift+P on Mac), and then typing in the command name: Generate Name | Azure Naming Convention Tool | Clovernance.
