EasyRecord Tools

This Visual Studio Code extension supports EasyRecord, the ABB RobotWare add-in for hand-guided path recording on GoFa (CRB 15000) and POWA (CRB 1910 / CRB 1920) collaborative robots: RAPID and CFG language support for its API, recorded path preview, custom instructions, controller connectivity and a Copilot assistant.

Up to date with EasyRecord 1.1.1.

Features

Language support

• Hover, completion and syntax highlighting for the er_* RAPID API and for every EASY_RECORD_* CFG field
• Each hover links to its section of the EasyRecord user guide
• Diagnostics with quick fixes: missing slot arguments, invalid .cfg fields and values, callback names, instruction naming rules, code written for an older EasyRecord (Fix all EasyRecord problems in this file)

Recorded paths

• Path preview: top, side and front views, output stretches, callback and disabled points, point slider and path summary
• CodeLens over er_ExecutePath "<path>": instruction, points, signals and callbacks, Open in PathEdit
• Works on the controller's HOME:/PATHS and on workspace copies

Controllers

• Auto-discovery of OmniCore controllers, real and virtual, over Robot Web Services; saved controllers that do not answer are greyed out
• Browse, preview, copy and delete recorded paths
• Edit the EasyRecord configuration (grouped fields, ranges, pending changes, save and restart)
• EasyRecord event log messages, newest first, opened in full and linked to the reference
• Drag & drop upload of your customizations, open PathEdit in the browser
• Status bar with the active controller and its EasyRecord version

Custom instructions

• New Custom Instruction…: one form with live checks and preview, generates the RAPID module and its .cfg registration with DO/GO/AO signal and callback slots, optional _executepath wrapper
• Create and upload to the active controller

Copilot Chat (@easyrecord)

• /path: tunes a recorded path as an application engineer would ("smooth the corners", "open the glue 20 mm earlier"); the extension computes the changes, shows a diff and a preview, and writes the module only after you confirm
• /instruction, /callback: generate custom instructions and callback procedures with their configuration
• /explain: explains EasyRecord RAPID and CFG code
• Application advice grounded in the user guide, application examples and the active controller's settings
• Language model tools for Copilot agent mode

Settings

• easyrecord.diagnostics.enabled (default true): EasyRecord diagnostics in RAPID and CFG files
• easyrecord.codeLens.enabled (default true): CodeLens over er_ExecutePath calls
• easyrecord.docs.language: language of the user guide (default: VS Code's display language)
• easyrecord.tools.showTemplates (default false): show Insert Template and Insert Config Instance
• easyrecord.pathEdit.browser / easyrecord.pathEdit.browserPath: browser used for PathEdit
• easyrecord.rws.allowSelfSignedCertificates (default true): accept the controller's self-signed certificate

Controllers that accept the default credentials (Default User / robotics) connect without a prompt; other credentials are kept in VS Code's SecretStorage.

• Optional: GitHub Copilot Chat for @easyrecord and the agent-mode tools
