Gujarati Language Pack for VS Code
Gujarati display language for Visual Studio Code.
This extension installs Gujarati (gu) as a display language for VS Code. The entire interface — menus, panels, dialogs, tooltips, editor commands, and more — will be shown in ગુજરાતી.
📥 Quick Start
- Install Gujarati Language Pack from the VS Code Marketplace
- Open the Command Palette (
Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P on macOS)
- Run Configure Display Language
- Select Gujarati (ગુજરાતી)
- Restart VS Code
Tip: To switch back to English, repeat the steps and select English (United States).
✨ What's Translated (v0.2.0)
~400 strings across 46 modules, covering:
- Top Menu Bar: File, Edit, Selection, View, Go, Run, Terminal, Help
- Core Editor Commands: Copy/Cut/Paste, Find & Replace, Toggle Comments, Code Folding, Multi-cursor, Format Document, Go to Definition, References, Rename Symbol
- Panels: Explorer, Search, Source Control, Debug, Extensions, Output, Problems, Terminal, Notifications, Settings
- Additional UI: Symbol kinds (Function, Class, Variable, Interface, Enum, etc.), Keybindings Editor, Activity Bar, Layout controls, Dialogs, Notifications
Untranslated strings automatically fall back to English. VS Code handles localization on a per-string basis.
🌱 Coverage is Growing
VS Code contains thousands of UI strings. This pack is being expanded iteratively, prioritizing the most frequently used interface elements.

❤️ Why This Exists
Gujarati has millions of speakers and a strong developer community in Gujarat and around the world. Despite this, VS Code had no official Gujarati language pack.
This is a community-driven open source project to make coding more accessible and comfortable for Gujarati developers.
Made with ❤️ by Anand Shah for the Gujarati developer community.
