Synapse extension for Visual Studio Code

The Synapse extension for VS Code allows you to develop for Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse platform using Visual Studio Code. The extension provides a set of commands to interact with the platform.

The extension is available from the Visual Studio Marketplace.

Note: This extension is only for Microsoft Fabric Platform and does not support Azure Synapse Analytics.

Features

• Develop Synapse Notebook, run and debug Notebook code on remote Synapse Spark pool.
• Synchronize Notebook between local and remote Synapse Spark pool.
• Develop Synapse Spark Job Definition, run and debug code on remote Synapse Spark pool
• Explore Lakehouse structure and table data.

Requirements

In order to use this extension you need install below software:

1. Jupyter VS Code extension pack
2. OpenJDK8
3. Conda

Note: Ensure to use the JDK link and not the JRE.
