Mermaid Desk Lite — Offline Mermaid Preview & Export

Preview and export Mermaid diagrams entirely offline. No account, no login, no AI, no telemetry — safe behind corporate proxies and in air-gapped setups. Mermaid 11 is bundled inside the extension; nothing is downloaded.

Features

Live side preview for .mmd / .mermaid files and ```mermaid blocks in Markdown (the block under your cursor).
Smooth pan/zoom — wheel to zoom at the cursor, drag to pan, Fit / 1:1. No arbitrary 500% cap (1%–10000%).
Inline syntax errors in the Problems panel and the editor, plus an error strip in the preview.
Export PNG with a scale factor and optional max width / max height (aspect ratio kept), background color or transparent.
Export compact SVG — comments/whitespace stripped, self-contained styles. Turn on mermaidDesk.svg.noForeignObject for plain-<text> labels that render in Azure DevOps wiki, Inkscape, and Office.
Export PDF using a Chrome/Edge/Chromium already installed on your machine (page sized to the diagram). No browser? You get a print-ready HTML instead.
Copy diagram as PNG to the clipboard (falls back to a saved temp PNG if the clipboard is blocked).

Commands

Mermaid Desk: Open Diagram Preview to the Side, Export Diagram as PNG…, Export Diagram as SVG…, Export Diagram as PDF…, Copy Diagram as PNG. Also in the editor title bar and Explorer right-click menu.

Privacy

Runs 100% on your computer. The preview runs under a strict Content-Security-Policy with no network access. No data or telemetry is collected.

Batch-export a folder, export every Markdown-embedded diagram and rewrite links, theme/brand presets, and watch-mode auto-export are planned for a separate Pro edition.
