Ysra — AI developer
Ysra works on the folder you have open in VS Code. Describe the change you want; Ysra reads the code, edits the files, runs your tests and tells you what it checked. Every file it changes opens in VS Code's own diff view, where you keep or undo it.

What you can do
- Hand Ysra a task. "Fix the failing test", "Add an endpoint for refunds", "Explain this project". Ysra works in the open folder on your computer and shows each step as it goes.
- Review its changes in VS Code. Files Ysra changes appear under Ysra changes in the Ysra side bar. Open one to see VS Code's diff, then Keep or Undo that file, or keep or undo all of them at once.
- Ask about code you're looking at. Select code and press ⌘⌥Y (macOS) or Ctrl+Alt+Y (Windows, Linux), or right-click → Ask Ysra About This, Explain This or Write a Test for This.
- Fix a problem. On an error or warning, the quick fix (💡) offers Fix with Ysra.
- See the commands it runs. Everything Ysra runs shows in the Ysra terminal.

Get started
- Install the extension and open a project folder. Ysra only works in a folder you trust, because it edits files and runs commands there.
- Click the Ysra icon in the activity bar, or run Ysra: Open Ysra (⌘⌥⇧Y / Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Y). To keep Ysra on the right, next to your files, drag the icon into the secondary side bar (or right-click the Ysra view's title → Move To → Secondary Side Bar).
In Cursor, the side bar's icons sit in a row at its top and extra ones go behind ⋯: open Ysra from there or with ⌘⌥⇧Y, and right-click the icon row to pin it.
- Choose Sign in to Ysra. VS Code shows a short code and opens Ysra's sign-in page in your browser; enter the code there. Your sign-in is kept in your system keychain through VS Code, never in a file.
- Ask for something.
You need a Ysra account. Ysra is in early access: request access or sign in at ysra.ai.
Choose how much Ysra may do
The access chip under the message box sets what Ysra may do in a thread. You can change it at any time, and set the default for new threads in Settings → Ysra: Approval Mode.
| Access |
What Ysra does |
| Asks first (default) |
Asks before running commands and changing files. |
| Auto |
Works through the task without asking, and still asks before deleting, deploying or installing software. |
| Read only |
Reads, explains and plans. Changes nothing. |
When Ysra needs your OK, a card in the thread shows exactly what it wants to do and waits for your answer.
Keep or undo every change

Ysra records each file as it was before its edit. In Ysra changes:
- click a file to open the diff;
- Keep accepts the change, Undo puts the file back as it was;
- Keep all and Undo all do the same for every file at once.
Ysra never commits or pushes unless you ask it to.
Pricing
The extension is free. The work Ysra does is paid from your Ysra account's credits, the same as in the Ysra apps; the thread shows the credits it has used. See ysra.ai/pricing.
Privacy and data
To do the work, the parts of your project Ysra reads, the commands it runs and their output are sent to Ysra. Commands run on your computer, in the open folder; Ysra asks before anything that reaches outside it. Read how Ysra handles your data in the Privacy Policy, and the Terms of Service that apply to your use of Ysra.
