CPSS - Copilot Session Search

Find and reopen your local GitHub Copilot Chat conversations across workspaces.

Features

  • Search session titles, prompts, visible responses, and references.
  • See each result's workspace, matching field, and text excerpt.
  • Open a conversation in its workspace and highlight matches with Chat Find.
  • Search stays on your device. No uploads or model calls by CPSS.

Usage

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+P (Cmd+Shift+P on macOS) and run CPSS: Search Sessions.
  2. Enter a keyword. On first use, approve building the local index.
  3. Select a result to reopen the conversation. Later searches refresh the index as needed.

Other commands: CPSS: Refresh Session Index and CPSS: Reset and Rebuild Session Index.

Requirements

Desktop VS Code 1.137.0+ and GitHub Copilot Chat with existing local sessions. Enable CPSS in each target workspace under the same VS Code profile.

Empty Window sessions can only be opened from an Empty Window. Opening and match navigation may vary with VS Code updates.

Privacy And License

The local index is unencrypted; original sessions are never modified. Chat Find temporarily uses the clipboard. Uninstalling may leave the index behind. See privacy details.
