Workday Developer Agent
Workday Developer Agent empowers developers to build custom agents, apps, and orchestrations across the Workday Build Platform, in plain language, with open standards, in your preferred agentic development tool.
Overview
Workday Developer Agent brings an AI-powered build experience to your IDE, so you can author, refactor, debug, and validate apps without leaving your flow of work. Describe what you want in natural language - the agent handles the wiring, the code, and the underlying skill files.
It has deep domain expertise and native AI skills to build on Workday and can navigate Workday's documentation, tutorials, and API catalog to take action on your behalf.
Features
- Natural language app building - describe the app or agent you want, and Developer Agent generates it.
- Build custom agents - describe what an agent should accomplish and Developer Agent generates its skill definition, no coding required.
- Deep domain expertise and native AI skills to build on Workday including agents, apps, APIs, DevOps, and Knowledge (e.g., create a business object, discover agent ready tools, generate WQL, register an agent with the Workday Agent System of Record).
- Works in your existing flow - lives in your IDE's sidebar, no context switching to a separate builder tool.

Troubleshooting
- MCP Server missing / not connected: Restart the Extension Host. If it's still missing, confirm you're logged in with
wdcli auth login and try again.
wdcli command not found: ensure the cli is downloaded, installed, and the folder containing the wdcli binary folder is in your system PATH.
Known Issues / Limitations
No Orchestration support. Developer Agent can’t build or edit orchestrations - you will be required to use Orchestration Builder for orchestration work.
