willdo

willdo brings your willdo SaaS workspace into VS Code so you can chat with your AI coding team, approve local tool work, and keep execution tied to the project you have open.

This extension is a public pre-release. It connects to the willdo SaaS API at https://app.willdo.ai/api by default and requires a willdo account.

What It Does

  • Connects VS Code to willdo through browser-based OAuth PKCE sign-in.
  • Keeps credentials in VS Code SecretStorage.
  • Lets willdo read scoped project context, inspect code, and run approved local tools from the extension host.
  • Shows approval cards before write, terminal, save, background process, and browser automation actions run.
  • Blocks local file, command, and browser tool execution while the workspace is in VS Code Restricted Mode.

Getting Started

  1. Install the extension.
  2. Run willdo: Connect from the Command Palette.
  3. Continue in your browser, sign in to willdo, and choose the willdo workspace VS Code should use.
  4. Return to VS Code and run Open willdo to start chatting.

The default server URL is https://app.willdo.ai/api. Change willdo.serverUrl only when willdo Support gives you a different willdo API URL. Existing settings that use https://app.willdo.ai or the previous https://app.hubson.ai address are repaired automatically before API calls are made.

Moving from Hubson

The willdo extension has a new Marketplace identity: willdo.willdo. Install it separately, disable the previous Hubson extension, and sign in again. VS Code keeps each extension’s credentials separate.

Updates

Install Marketplace updates when VS Code offers them, then run Developer: Reload Window. If willdo Support provides a .vsix directly, use Extensions: Install from VSIX... and reload VS Code after installation. You can confirm the installed release from the willdo extension details page.

Workspace Trust

You can sign in, view chat and prepare a draft in VS Code Restricted Mode. Starting work and using local file, command, editor or browser tools require Workspace Trust. After you grant trust, willdo prepares this project’s access and connects automatically. Your draft stays in place; you do not need to sign in again or reinstall the extension.

Support

Email support@willdo.ai with your VS Code version, willdo extension version, operating system, and a short description of the issue.

Use of willdo is governed by the willdo Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Local Development

Use the repository Taskfile from the repo root:

task extension:check
task extension:package

For a local backend, override willdo.serverUrl with http://localhost:8080.
