Desk Tray Eisenhower Matrix
Stop context-switching and protect your flow state. The Desk Tray Eisenhower Matrix brings a privacy-first, zero-friction task management system directly into Visual Studio Code.
Instead of jumping between your editor and an external to-do app, organize your workload, prioritize effectively, and maintain your focus without ever leaving your IDE.
🚀 Features
- The Eisenhower Methodology: Instantly categorize your tasks into four quadrants:
- 🟩 Do Now (Urgent & Important): Top priority tasks.
- 🟦 Plan (Important, Not Urgent): Long-term goals and architecture.
- 🟨 Delegate (Urgent, Not Important): Tasks to automate or hand off.
- ⬜ Drop (Neither): Distractions to eliminate.
- Seamless VS Code Integration: Automatically adapts to your active VS Code color theme (Light, Dark, or High Contrast) so it feels like a native part of the editor.
- Coder-Friendly Shortcuts: Manage your tasks entirely via the keyboard to minimize mouse reliance.
- Sliding Trays: Quickly dump thoughts into the Inbox tray, or move finished items to the Done tray to keep your active matrix clean.
- 100% Offline & Private: Your tasks never leave your machine. Everything is stored persistently using VS Code's native local state API. No cloud sync, no tracking, no telemetry.
⌨️ Keyboard Shortcuts
Speed is critical. We built hover-based keyboard shortcuts so you can organize tasks at the speed of thought.
- Open the Matrix:
Ctrl+Shift+E (or Cmd+Shift+E on Mac)
- Focus the Input Bar:
Ctrl+I
Hover Actions: Simply hover your mouse cursor over any task in the matrix or inbox, and press:
1 - Move to Do Now
2 - Move to Plan
3 - Move to Delegate
4 - Move to Drop
D - Mark as Done
Backspace or Delete - Delete the task permanently
🖱️ Drag and Drop
Prefer using the mouse? You can drag and drop any task seamlessly between the Inbox, the four matrix quadrants, and the Done tray.
🔒 Privacy & Data
This extension requires zero external network requests. All task data is saved locally on your device within your VS Code environment profile.
