Autonomous coding agent for VS Code, powered by Ungram.
Ungram Code plans, edits files, runs terminal commands and uses MCP tools right in your editor — and asks for your approval at every step.
Getting started
Open Ungram Code from the Activity Bar.
Click Sign in with ungram.ai, confirm the code on the page that opens, and come back to VS Code. Works in Remote SSH, WSL and Codespaces too.
Describe your task.
Ungram Code is included in the Pro and Max plans. Usage counts against the plan's 5-hour and weekly windows; the current percentages are in the status bar and in Settings → Account & Model.
Developers can use an API key instead (sk-ug-…, billed from the account balance): choose Use an API key on the first screen and create a key in the Ungram console.
Features
Plan & Act — explore and plan first, then execute.
Diff-based edits — review every change before it lands.
Terminal — runs builds, tests and scripts, reads the output and reacts to errors.
Checkpoints — roll the workspace back to any step.
MCP — connect external tools and data sources.
Rules — project-specific instructions in .ungramrules.
Large context — up to 1M tokens on Max, with automatic history compaction.
Privacy
Model requests go only to Ungram (userapi.ungram.ai with the subscription, api.ungram.ai with an API key). The extension has no telemetry. The sign-in token is kept in VS Code's secret storage. Connected devices can be revoked at ungram.ai/console/code.
