Your AI partner for automation, right inside VS Code. Describe what you want to automate in plain language, and Autopilot designs the workflow, writes the code, builds the tests, and orchestrates the UiPath Platform for you.

Autopilot brings UiPath's agentic automation into your editor as a chat you can talk to while you build. It is backed by the same engine that powers Autopilot in UiPath Studio Web and Studio Desktop, so what you prototype here speaks the same language as the rest of the platform.

What you can do

• Describe it, and Autopilot builds it. Turn plain-language intent into RPA and API workflows, scaffold projects, and create or edit files directly in your workspace.
• Automate any application. Design UI automation that drives desktop and web apps the way a person would, plus the resilient selectors behind it.
• Ship tests, not just features. Generate automated UI and API tests, turn manual test cases into runnable ones, and produce test data for data-driven runs, part of UiPath's agentic testing.
• Understand and improve existing work. Ask what an activity, workflow, or code block does, then refactor it for clearer structure and better error handling.
• Orchestrate the platform. Act across your signed-in UiPath services and tenants without leaving the editor.
• Works where you work. Local, Remote-SSH, Dev Containers, GitHub Codespaces, and WSL windows all behave the same.

About UiPath Autopilot and agentic automation

UiPath pioneered Robotic Process Automation (RPA): software robots that carry out repetitive, rule-based work across the UIs and APIs of the systems you already use. Agentic automation is the next step, pairing those robots with AI agents that can reason, decide, and adapt. Agents bring intelligence and flexibility; robots bring structure, permissions, and safe, deterministic execution. Getting started

1. Install the extension and open the UiPath Autopilot view from the Activity Bar.
2. Run UiPath Autopilot: Sign In (or click Sign in in the panel) and authenticate with your UiPath account.
3. Start chatting. Ask Autopilot to build a workflow, automate a task, write tests, or explain your project.

Requirements

• A UiPath account. Sign-in is required to chat.
• VS Code 1.120 or newer.
