Installation

  1. Open VS Code
  2. Go to the Extensions view (Ctrl+Shift+X or Cmd+Shift+X on Mac)
  3. Search for "Coding Tracker"
  4. Click Install
  5. Reload VS Code if required

Usage

Basic Controls

  • Start/Stop: Click the pause/resume icon to toggle the timer
  • Reset: Click the "Reset" button to restart the timer
  • Move: Drag the panel by clicking and holding on the time or date display

Commands

You can also control the timer through VS Code commands:

  1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P on Mac)
  2. Type one of these commands:
    • Coding Tracker: Show Timer - Shows/hides the timer panel
    • Coding Tracker: Toggle Pause - Pauses or resumes the timer
    • Coding Tracker: Reset - Resets the timer to 00:00:00

Configuration

The extension currently uses sensible defaults, but future versions may include configuration options for:

  • Panel color themes
  • Timer display formats
  • Position locking
  • Session history tracking

Known Issues

  • Panel position may reset if VS Code window is resized dramatically
  • Timer continues running even when VS Code is inactive
