CCStudio for VS Code

CCStudio for VS Code brings Texas Instruments' embedded development tools directly into Visual Studio Code. Whether you're developing firmware for wireless connectivity, motor control, or microcontroller applications, CCStudio for VS Code lets you download an SDK, create and import projects, and build, flash, and debug on TI devices — all without leaving VS Code.

Features

  • CCStudio activity bar — a dedicated panel with a Get Started view that links to the User Guide, Release Notes, and E2E Forum, and a Troubleshoot view with links to guides for known issues
  • Automatic tool setup — on first start, CCStudio downloads the tools it needs in the background (such as OpenOCD, GDB/LLDB, CMake, Ninja, and NodeJS). Wait for the Installing dependencies notification to finish before building or debugging
  • StartHub — download SDKs for your target device and create example projects to get started quickly
  • Project management — import projects, then build, clean, re-build, and debug them from the Projects view, with syntax highlighting for build output
  • Target debugging — debug on your device with the Memory and Disassembly views, plus peripheral register (XPERIPHERALS), RTOS (xRTOS), and Live Watch views
  • AI assistance — CCStudio-aware skills, instructions, and MCP servers for Claude Code and Codex
  • Guided walkthrough — a step-by-step "Get Started with CCStudio" walkthrough that takes you from downloading an SDK to building and debugging your first project

Getting started

  1. Open the CCStudio panel in the activity bar, or run CCStudio: Open Walkthrough from the Command Palette.
  2. Wait for the Installing dependencies notification to finish.
  3. Open StartHub to download an SDK for your device and create an example project.
  4. Import the project, then build and debug it from the Projects view.

Commands

  • CCStudio: Open Walkthrough — open the Get Started walkthrough
  • CCStudio: Open User Guide — open the CCStudio for VS Code user guide
  • CCStudio: Open E2E Forum — ask questions and report issues on the TI E2E forum
  • CCStudio: Open Release Notes — see what's new in this release
  • CCStudio: Save Release Notes — save the release notes shown in the active Release Notes panel

Project commands, such as CCStudio Project: Import Project and CCStudio Project: Debug Project, are provided by the CCStudio Project extension.
