- ⚡ Side-by-Side & Inline Diff Views: Compare original (left) and modified (right) text with word-level highlight badges showing specific changes (additions and deletions).
- 📏 Resizable Split Panels: Easily adjust screen real estate! Drag the divider bar between the input textareas and the diff output section to resize them dynamically.
- 🔄 Two-Way Merge & Accept: Complete control over your changes! Accept difference blocks from right-to-left (
← Accept) or left-to-right (Accept ➔) at the click of a button.
- 📁 Drag & Drop File Loading: Drag any text file from your desktop or explorer and drop it directly onto the left or right text areas to load it instantly.
- 📋 One-Click Clipboard Paste: Quickly import text by clicking the "Paste" action button on either panel header.
- 🔍 Collapse Unchanged Blocks: Keep your screen clean! Automatically collapse identical lines to focus only on what's changed, and expand them with a click.
- ⚙️ Advanced Compare Filters:
- Ignore Whitespace: Ignores differences in leading/trailing spaces, empty lines, and newline formats.
- Ignore Case: Compares text in a case-insensitive manner.
- ⌨️ Synchronized Scrolling & HUD Navigation: Sync scrolls horizontally and vertically across split screens. Navigate differences using navigation arrows or keyboard shortcuts (
F7 / Shift + F7).
- 🗂️ Explorer Context Menu Integration:
- Right-click a file and select Select for Compare.
- Right-click another file and select Compare with Selected.
- Multi-select two files in your Explorer, right-click, and compare them instantly!
🛠️ How to Use
- Open Diff Checker:
- Click the Diff Checker Pro icon (⇄) in the VS Code Activity Bar (Sidebar) to open it in a main editor tab.
- Or run
Diff Checker Pro: Open Diff Checker Tab in the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P / Cmd+Shift+P).
- Load Content:
- Paste text directly into the left and right panels.
- Click Load Editor to fetch text from your active VS Code tab.
- Click Paste to load your clipboard.
- Drag & drop files directly onto the panel textareas.
- Compare:
- Differences are calculated automatically as you type (debounced) or when you click Compare Diffs.
- Toggle between Side-by-Side and Inline layouts using the layout toggle group.
- Merge:
- Hover over any difference block and click
← Accept or Accept ➔ to apply or reject changes between the left and right sides.
