Task Tracker Kit
VS Code extension that creates the Task Tracker Kendo UI project (ASP.NET Core MVC + Npgsql repositories) on disk, shows its files in a sidebar tree, and adds new project files from templates or snippets.
Features
- Create the whole project in a new folder of your choice:
MVC web project (controllers, Kendo UI Razor views, layouts, middleware, filter)Repositories class library (interfaces, Npgsql implementations, models, view models)- Solution files,

- Task Tracker tree view in the Explorer shows only the project files (skips
bin, obj, Logs, lib, .vs).
- Add File from Template for controllers, repositories, interfaces, models, view models, Razor views, middleware and action filters.
- C# and Razor snippets for the same project conventions.
Usage
Create a project
- Open the Command Palette (
Ctrl+Shift+P).
- Run Task Tracker: Create Project.
- Enter a folder name (default
TaskTracker) and choose the parent folder.
- Open the new folder when prompted, then run
dotnet run --project MVC.
Update MVC/appsettings.json with your PostgreSQL connection string and create the tables (t_user, t_admin, t_task) before logging in.
Add a file
- Run Task Tracker: Add File from Template (or use the buttons in the Task Tracker view title).
- Pick a template and enter a name, for example
Invoice.
Files are created in the matching project folder:

Requirements
- VS Code 1.85 or newer
- .NET SDK 10.0 (the generated projects target
net10.0). If dotnet --list-sdks shows an older SDK first, run the app with the .NET 10 install directly, for example & "C:\Program Files\dotnet\dotnet.exe" run --project MVC.
- PostgreSQL for the generated project
- Internet access when running the generated project, because Bootstrap, jQuery and Kendo UI are loaded from CDNs
Development
cd task-tracker-kit
npm test
npx @vscode/vsce package
Press F5 in VS Code to launch an Extension Development Host, then run Task Tracker: Create Project.
Notes
- Existing files are only overwritten after an explicit confirmation.
- The generated project is a copy of the
Task Tracker Kendo UI project in this repository, with third-party wwwroot/lib assets replaced by CDN links so the template stays small.
