🔢 Instant Tab Navigation

Jump to any of the first 10 open tabs instantly:

  • Use Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9 (or Cmd+1 through Cmd+9 on macOS)
  • Use Ctrl+0 (Cmd+0) for tab 10

🚀 Installation

  1. Open VS Code
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+X to open Extensions view
  3. Search for Tab Index Navigator
  4. Click Install
  5. Reload VS Code if prompted

📖 How to Use

Basic Navigation

  • Open multiple files
  • Use keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9, Ctrl+0
  • Observe live tab index in status bar

Advanced Features

  • Open tab list: Ctrl+Shift+T
  • Open pinned tabs: Ctrl+Shift+I
  • View tab history: Ctrl+Shift+H
  • Navigate back: Ctrl+Alt+Left
  • Toggle tab index overlay: From Command Palette only

🛠 Troubleshooting

Keyboard shortcuts not working?
Check for conflicts in File > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts

Status bar not showing?
Ensure tabIndexNavigator.showStatusBarItem is set to true

Can't jump to tabs beyond 10?
Use the Tab List feature (Ctrl+Shift+T)
