TabRoute for VS Code

Your browser tabs follow your VS Code project.

Switch projects in VS Code and Chrome swaps to that project's tabs: the ones you left open last time. No more digging through 48 tabs from three different projects.

Get started

  1. Install TabRoute for VS Code (this extension).
  2. Install TabRoute for Chrome.
  3. Open a project folder. The Chrome popup shows Linked and your project.

That's it. No account, no pairing code: the two find each other on your computer.

What it does

  • Follows you: switching VS Code windows, or opening a file from another folder of a multi-root workspace, switches Chrome's tabs to that project.
  • Saves before it closes: the old project's tabs are saved first, so nothing is lost.
  • Keeps tab groups, pinned tabs stay put, and tabs open in the order you left them.
  • Never loses tabs: automatic backups (up to 4 weeks), a Deleted list for 30 days, and a backup file you can download.

The status bar shows the current project; click it to see the TabRoute log.

Privacy

Everything stays on your computer. TabRoute listens only on 127.0.0.1 (never your network), only accepts Chrome extensions and local programs (never web pages), and has no account, no cloud and no analytics.
