New: Amp Free — agentic coding is now free for everyone.

Features

  • Best Models, Always: Amp uses the best available models (currently Claude Sonnet 4.5) with up to 1 million tokens of context.
  • Unconstrained Token Usage: Built to be valuable, not to match a subscription cost.
  • Multiplayer: Share threads and collaborate with your team.
  • Direct Model Access: Access the raw power of frontier models without artificial constraints.

Getting Started

  1. Sign in to ampcode.com and follow install instructions
  2. Start a new thread and begin coding

Prompting Tips

  • Be explicit. Instead of "can you do X?", try "do X"
  • Keep it focused. Break large tasks into smaller sub-tasks
  • Don't make the model guess. Tell it which files to look at and commands to run
  • Use AGENTS.md files to guide Amp on build/test commands and conventions
  • Tell the agent how to review its work: what command to run, what URL to open
