Serac
Manage your Claude Code agents, workflows, and teams.
Serac is a VS Code sidebar that turns your Claude Code sessions into colour-coded status cards, so across many windows you can see at a glance which agent needs you, which is done, and which is blocked, then drill into any of them. It also surfaces Claude Code Workflow runs and Agent Teams as cards you can manage and explore.
In one sidebar, you get:
- Visibility of all Claude Code activity in your workspace, as colour-coded status cards with no setup.
- The full shape of each run on its card: dynamic workflows, agent teams, and subagents, nested underneath as they spawn.
- Access to their histories, with every session, workflow, and agent transcript readable as markdown, plus a time-filtered archive.
- Insight into your worktrees and other open windows, gathered into one cross-window list, or folded into the main list with a worktree chip (
serac.worktrees.squash) when eight worktrees should not mean eight windows.
- Remote Control in the same list. Sessions you start from your phone show up as ordinary cards marked 📡, a session that has been switched off Remote Control gets a slashed 📡 chip with the way back, and a two-bar signal mark in the top bar tells you how much of Remote Control is on for this workspace: one bar when sessions you start here go to your phone, the second when a server here lets the phone start new sessions. Hover for which; click to turn the rest on (start a server in a terminal, install the always-on launchd server, or open Claude Code's settings at the enrolment flag, which Serac points at but never writes).
scripts/rc-headless/ is the launchd server, now shipped inside the extension.

Reading the cards
A card packs a lot into three short rows. The card legend decodes every pill, chip, badge, and wash: what each one is telling you, and what you'd do about it. There's a rendered specimen sheet too, with every chip drawn at its real size.
Requirements
- VS Code 1.94 or later
- The Claude Code VS Code extension (provides the
claude-vscode.editor.open command)
- macOS. Other platforms run with reduced usage-credential support (Keychain on macOS, plaintext
~/.claude/.credentials.json elsewhere, usage bars hidden if neither is present).
Fragility
Serac reads Claude Code's undocumented internal formats: the JSONL session logs (including the Remote Control bridge-session records), the workflow and team sidecars and the live-process registry under ~/.claude/, and the OAuth usage endpoint. None are guaranteed by Anthropic. It validates defensively and degrades gracefully (unknown records are skipped, not crashed on), and has been stable through daily use since March 2026.
