Launch VS Code Quick Open (Ctrl+P), paste the following command, and press enter.

slickbit

About

slickbit is a social code snippet manager featuring cloud storage, private and unlisted snipets, history and reverting, collections, and more.

To use this snippet, you must be a slickbit premium user.

Installation

  1. Install the extension
  2. Run the setup command by pressing: alt + shift + s
  3. Click the "Start Setup" button in the information message. This will open your slickbit profile page.
  4. Copy your API token from your slickbit profile page.
  5. Back in vscode, click "Enter API Token" in the new information message. Paste the token into the prompt at the top of vscode and press enter.
  6. If your token is valid and a connection to slickbit is successful, you should see a message saying your snippets were refreshed.

You can also go to Preferences -> Settings -> Extensions -> slickbit after installing to view and modify your API token

Features and Shortcuts

Insert Bit

alt + shift + i

Search for a snippet and then press enter to insert a snippet wherever your cursor is positioned.

Create Bit

alt + shift + c

With code selected in your editor, press alt + shift + c or right click and select "Create Bit". A wizard will appear at the top of your editor with options for:

  • Name
  • Language
  • Privacy
  • Store history

The bit will be created and pushed up to slickbit.

Refresh Bits

alt + shift + r

By default the extension will sync your bits each time it starts. To refresh at any time, use this command.

Setup

alt + shift + s

Start the setup wizard to walk through adding your API token.

Settings

Navigate to Preferences -> Settings -> Extensions -> slickbit to change your API token.
