Explorer Filter Extension for VS Code

Adds a selectable filter combo directly to the VS Code Explorer title bar, allowing instantaneous filtering of folders and files using cumulative rules.

Features

  • Explorer Header Action: Select and toggle filter profiles directly from the Explorer view title bar icon ($(filter)).
  • Status Bar Indicator: Always displays the currently applied profile with single-click profile switching.
  • Configurable Profiles: Configure profiles in package.json defaults or project-level settings.json.
  • Cumulative Combinations: Every profile evaluates rules strictly in 4 successive steps:
    1. Include Paths: Retains only specified folders/files in the tree.
    2. Include Exts: Retains only specified extensions within the included folders.
    3. Exclude Paths: Explicitly suppresses designated subdirectories and files.
    4. Exclude Exts: Explicitly suppresses designated extensions.

How to Build the .vsix Package

  1. Install project dependencies:

    npm install

  2. Compile the TypeScript source code:

    npm run build

  3. Package the extension into a .vsix file:

    npm run package

This produces vscode-explorer-filter-0.1.0.vsix in the project root.
