Installation
Launch VS Code Quick Open (Ctrl+P), paste the following command, and press enter.
Context switching kills engineering time during every sprint. The Sauce Labs IDE plugin eliminates that entirely. Test on real devices, generate test code in your own framework, and push results to your pipeline without opening a browser. Sauce Labs now lives inside your IDE.
This plugin brings the following Sauce Labs tools into VS Code:
Real Device Access API. Browse real devices, run device sessions, view logs, and run Appium tests without leaving the editor.
AI Test Authoring. Write a test in plain English and get back test code you can use in your pipelines.
Key Features
Real Device Cloud
Start a live device session on any private real device with one click and interact with the screen (tap, swipe, hardware buttons, rotate).
Stream device logs, the Sauce hosted Appium server log, and network traffic into the editor with color coding.
Capture PNG screenshots and MP4 recordings (recording requires ffmpeg).
Debug sessions so your local Appium tests run against the live device without code changes.
AI Test Authoring
Write a test by typing a plain English prompt for websites or native mobile apps.
Review the test steps captured by the system, edit them, and save as a test case.
Generate test code for any test case captured and save it into your filesystem.
Limitations
MP4 recording requires ffmpeg on your PATH. Screenshots and log streaming work without it.
Public devices are hidden by default. Live sessions run on private real devices.
Multi touch and pinch gestures are not supported yet. Single touch tap, swipe, and drag work.
Prerequisites
VS Code 1.85 or newer.
A Sauce Labs account in one of the supported data centers. Grab your username and access key from the Sauce Labs user settings.
Ability to use Sauce Real Device Access API or AI Test Authoring.
