Editor Navigator

Navigate between open editors with two simple, native VS Code toolbar arrow buttons.

Editor Navigator adds Previous Open Editor and Next Open Editor actions to the editor title area, making it easy to move through your currently open editors without relying on the Open Editors list.

Usage

After installing Editor Navigator, open multiple files in VS Code.

Where are the buttons?

Editor Navigator adds two navigation buttons to the top VS Code toolbar:

← Previous Open Editor — move to the previous open editor.
→ Next Open Editor — move to the next open editor.

The buttons appear in the top toolbar alongside VS Code's other native toolbar controls.

Click the ← Previous Open Editor or → Next Open Editor button to move through your currently open editors.

Editor Navigator uses VS Code's existing editor navigation behavior and does not replace or modify your editor tabs.

Requirements

Visual Studio Code 1.125.0 or later.

Editor Navigator does not require an account, does not require a remote service, and does not intentionally collect or transmit user content.
