OrgWeave

OrgWeave in action

OrgWeave is a free, local-first VS Code extension that helps Salesforce developers understand their codebase.

It visualises how Apex classes, triggers and Lightning Web Components connect, shows the data they read and modify, identifies potential recursion, and helps developers understand code requirements.

It also generates Word documentation and helps create or update Permission Sets.

Everything runs locally on your machine. No AI, no tokens, no Salesforce login, and no external servers. Your source code never leaves your machine.

Version 1.0.0 is the first public release. Future scope includes visualising Salesforce Flows, with further improvements shaped by community feedback.

OrgWeave – Understand your org. Visualise your code. Work smarter.

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.85 or newer.
  • A Salesforce project folder containing Apex classes, triggers or Lightning Web Components, in Salesforce DX or Metadata API format.
  • Microsoft Word, or any app that opens .docx files, to read the exported documentation.

No Salesforce CLI, org connection or other extension is needed.

Features

Code Visualizer. Shows your Apex classes, triggers and Lightning Web Components as numbered paths you can read from left to right: what calls what, and which records and fields each step reads or changes. The Detail tab breaks each class into its methods, queries and database writes, and Lanes shows everything in columns.

Recursion Checker. Finds code that can run itself again: methods calling themselves, triggers fired by their own saves, and jobs that start themselves again. Each loop is rated Unguarded, Base case or Guarded, with the exact steps and links to the lines involved.

Documentation Summary. Exports a Word document about the code on screen, covering what to review first, recursion, database writes, data access and permissions. Useful for code reviews, audits and knowledge transfer. Any view can also be saved as an image.

Permission Set Creator (beta). Lists the objects, fields and Apex classes your code needs, and which of them Salesforce checks for your users. It can create a new Permission Set or add the missing access to an existing one, showing every change before anything is saved and never deploying.

Updates and feedback

OrgWeave will keep getting updated. Flow visualisation is currently being worked on and will arrive in a future release. If you find a bug or have an idea, please share it in the Q & A section of the OrgWeave page on the VS Code Marketplace, so the extension can keep improving.

You're also welcome to send feedback directly to me on LinkedIn. I'm looking forward to connecting with everyone.
