keyboard-layers README

Keyboard layers allows you to set keybindings specific to a quickly accessable keyboard layer.

Features

Use keybinding cmd+shift+l to toggle on the layer, esc to toggle off, and ctrl+shift+t to toggle.

Adding layer keybindings

To add a keybinding specific to the layer, add the following JSON object to your keybindings settings.

[
  {
    "key": "b",
    "command": "cursorDown",
    "when": "config.keyboardlayer.active"
  }
]

Configuration

You can configure the way the app displays layer status, the current options are a configurable theme color change, or a status bar text notification.

Customizing layer color change

By default, the extension will change the color of multiple parts of your workspace to let you know the extension is active. To customize this color, add the following configuration.

"keyboardlayer.layerColor": "#567fdc"

Customization of various ways of notification are under development.

The example above will make the key b move the cursor down whenever the layer is active.
