Releap Lens for VS Code

Ask how your codebase works. Generate tickets and release notes.

Releap Lens connects every role in your software team to your codebase. Ask questions, get cited answers, generate tickets with acceptance criteria, and draft release notes — all from grounded product context.

Get started in 2 minutes — no GitHub org approval required.

Index your local VS Code workspace directly. No IT involvement, no admin rights, no waiting for security review. When your organization approves the GitHub connection, switch over with one click.

What you can do

Codebase Q&A. Ask how any feature works and get cited answers — every response includes the exact file and line number it came from.

Tickets with engineering context. Turn a codebase question into a full ticket with acceptance criteria, code references, and an engineering prompt specific enough for a developer or coding agent to act on immediately.

Acceptance criteria verification. Verify your implementation against ticket AC items before you push. Compare verification status across local, test, and production.

Explore with Lens. Ask targeted questions about the code you're about to change — before you open your coding agent. Understand what you're building, then refine the engineering prompt.

MCP integration. Releap exposes 15+ tools via the Model Context Protocol. Claude, Codex, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible agents can read your tickets, run AC verification, and update ticket status as they generate code.

Release notes and knowledge base. Draft audience-specific release notes from commits and tickets. Keep KB articles current with codebase changes.

How local indexing works

  1. Install the extension and create a free account (or sign in).
  2. The extension reads your VS Code workspace files.
  3. Files are sent to Releap's servers for indexing.
  4. Lens is ready — ask your first question in under 3 minutes.

Secret files (.env, *.key, *.pem) are automatically excluded. Your indexed code is only accessible to your Releap workspace members. Clear your local index at any time from the Dashboard.

When you're ready for team access: connect your GitHub organization in Releap settings. The local index is automatically superseded by the GitHub-connected version.

Privacy and security

  • Files leave your machine and are stored on Releap's servers.
