Onshape FeatureScript

Live bidirectional sync between local .fs files and Onshape FeatureScript Studio elements — no API keys required.

How it works

A companion Chrome extension bridges an open Onshape tab over a local WebSocket. Edits in VS Code push instantly to Onshape; edits in Onshape pull back to your local file. When you reconnect after a period of divergence, you choose which version wins.

Setup

  1. Install this extension
  2. Load the companion Chrome extension (unpacked) from the browser-extension/ directory
  3. Open a FeatureScript Studio element in Chrome
  4. In VS Code: Cmd+Shift+P → Onshape FS: Start Browser Bridge
  5. Open or create a .fs file, then Cmd+Shift+P → Onshape FS: Link File to Onshape Element
  6. Paste the Onshape element URL when prompted

Requirements

  • Chrome with the companion browser extension loaded
  • The Onshape FeatureScript editor must be open and visible in Chrome while syncing
