Monitor AI provider latency directly from your editor. See real-time speed to OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, and 10 other AI providers without leaving VS Code.

Features

Status Bar Latency

A persistent status bar indicator shows the current latency to your chosen AI provider. At a glance, you'll know if your AI tools are running fast or experiencing slowdowns.

Full Speed Test

Run a comprehensive speed test across all 13 supported AI providers from the command palette. Results are displayed in a ranked, color-coded webview panel inside VS Code.

Configurable Provider

Choose which AI provider to monitor in the status bar. Supports OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini), Mistral, DeepSeek, Groq, xAI, Perplexity, Cohere, Together, Cerebras, Fireworks, and AI21.

Usage

  1. Status bar — After installation, the status bar shows latency for your configured provider (default: OpenAI). Click it to run a full test.
  2. Command palette — Open the command palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for:
    • MyAISpeed: Run Full Speed Test — tests all providers and shows ranked results
    • MyAISpeed: Show Last Results — re-opens the last test results

Configuration

Setting Default Description

myaispeed.refreshInterval 300 How often to refresh the status bar latency, in seconds (minimum 60)

Requirements

No dependencies. This extension uses only Node.js built-in modules and the VS Code API.
