Antigravity Mic 🎙️

Open VSX License: MIT Local Whisper

Antigravity Mic is a voice-first pair programming extension for Google Antigravity IDE, Cursor, Cline, Roo Code, and VS Code. It bridges on-device Faster-Whisper speech-to-text with multi-agent IDE chat panels, allowing developers to speak naturally and inject clean instructions or voice notes into their AI chat with sub-second latency.

Powered by the proven speech-to-text architecture and multi-agent dispatching of EditorMate.

✨ Key Features

  • ⚡ 100% On-Device Whisper: Sub-second speech recognition via faster-whisper on CPU/GPU. No audio ever leaves your computer—100% privacy for proprietary codebases.
  • 🔴 Clickable Bottom Bar Mic Button: Dedicated $(mic) Record button in the IDE bottom status bar. Click it to start speaking; it turns into an eye-catching red $(record) 00:05 [Stop] with a live timer. Click it again to stop, transcribe, and dispatch!
  • 🔀 Multi-Agent Chat Routing (Inherited from EditorMate):
    • ⚡ Auto-Detect: Dynamically routes to whichever AI agent is open.
    • ✦ Antigravity: Direct IPC dispatch via antigravity.sendPromptToAgentPanel.
    • 🤖 Cline: Opens sidebar or new tab and pastes prompt.
    • 🦘 Roo Code: Focuses Roo Code chat and pastes prompt.
    • ⚡ Cursor: Injects prompt via cursor.chat.
    • 🚀 GitHub Copilot: Injects into Copilot Chat panel.
    • 🌊 Windsurf: Dispatches to Codeium Cascade.
    • 🎯 Trae: Dispatches to ByteDance Trae chat.
    • 🔄 Continue.dev: Focuses Continue GUI view.
    • 📝 Active Editor: Types text directly at cursor.
    • 📋 Clipboard: Copies prompt to system clipboard.
  • 🎛️ Dual Voice Modes:
    • Mode A (Voice-to-Text): Local Whisper transcribes speech, strips stutters and filler words (um, uh, like), and types the prompt directly into chat.
    • Mode B (Voice Attachment): Records high-fidelity 16kHz mono audio, saves .wav to workspace .antigravity/voice/, and injects a formatted voice note attachment card with companion transcript summary.
  • 🎛️ Studio Sidebar UI: Live audio waveform visualizer, recording timer, one-click toggle, model selector (tiny, base, small), destination dropdown, and prompt preview with re-send capabilities.
  • ⌨️ Universal Shortcut: Press Ctrl+Alt+M (or Cmd+Alt+M on macOS) to record from anywhere in your IDE.
  • 🌐 Open VSX Ready: Published for Google Antigravity IDE, VSCodium, Cursor, Trae, and VS Code.

🚀 Quick Start

1. Installation

Via Open VSX Registry:

code --install-extension praveenojha.antigravity-mic

Via Manual VSIX:

Download the latest antigravity-mic-0.0.1.vsix release and install:

code --install-extension antigravity-mic-0.0.1.vsix

2. Install Local Speech Dependencies (Recommended)

Antigravity Mic uses local Python Faster-Whisper for sub-second CPU transcription:

pip install faster-whisper

(If Python or Faster-Whisper is not yet installed, Antigravity Mic provides guidance in the status bar and webview).

3. Usage

  • Bottom Bar: Click $(mic) Record on the bottom right status bar to start speaking immediately from any file. Click $(record) [Stop] to finish.
  • Switch Destination: Click the destination pill next to the mic button (e.g. ✦ Antigravity or ⚡ Auto) to pick between Antigravity, Cline, Roo Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.
  • Studio Panel: Open the Antigravity Mic studio in the Activity Bar for the live waveform visualizer and transcript preview.
  • Keyboard Shortcut: Or hit Ctrl+Alt+M (Cmd+Alt+M on macOS) at any time.

🛠️ Modes Explained

Mode A: Voice-to-Text (Default)
