See what PortMem found in a draft, in a panel beside your editor and terminal.
PortMem checks documents written with AI against the source documents they rely on. When your AI assistant reviews
a draft with PortMem, for example Claude Code in VS Code's terminal, the review opens in the PortMem panel on the
right side of VS Code:
what the draft gets wrong, what the sources do not confirm, and what it leaves out, each with the source passage
that decides it
the statements that check out
for a revised draft, which findings it resolved
From the panel:
Fix in the terminal puts the findings you ticked into your assistant's prompt in the terminal. Nothing is sent
until you press Enter.
Marked copy (.docx) saves the draft with each finding as a Word comment to your Downloads folder.
Open in PortMem opens the review in the PortMem console, where you sign off.
Getting started
Install the extension. PortMem appears in the right side bar (VS Code 1.106 or later; earlier versions show it in
the left side bar).
Choose Sign in to PortMem. The sign-in opens in your browser. Check that the code there matches the one in the
panel, then confirm.
Connect your AI assistant to PortMem (setup guide) and ask it to review a draft
with PortMem. The review opens in the panel when it finishes.
You need a PortMem account: sign up at portmem.com.
Commands
PortMem: Show the latest review
PortMem: Show a review... (a PM reference, a record id or a PortMem link)
PortMem: Sign in, PortMem: Sign out, PortMem: Refresh
Privacy
The extension reads only your own PortMem reviews, with your own sign-in. It reads nothing from VS Code: no files, no
editor text, no terminal output. It writes to the terminal only when you choose Fix in the terminal, and then it only
pastes. Your session is kept in VS Code's secure storage.
