Fosfori CRT Framework

Give your VS Code editor a retro CRT look — phosphor glow, scanlines, bloom, and film grain.

Fosfori renders text files in a custom CRT editor with configurable phosphor-CRT effects, and exposes a plugin API so theme packs can ship their own presets.

Features

• CRT custom editor — open any file with a phosphor-CRT look.
• Live settings panel (Fosfori: Open Settings) — adjust bloom, scanlines, scanline size, film grain, and phosphor tint with instant preview, plus high/medium/low presets.
• Theme packs — install theme extensions (e.g. Fosfori Matrix Theme) that register presets through the plugin API.
• Privacy-first — telemetry is off by default and double-gated behind VS Code's global telemetry setting. See privacy policy.

How it works today

Effects are rendered with CSS (phosphor tint, scanlines, bloom via glow, and film grain) in the CRT custom editor. A full WebGL/GLSL shader pipeline — which would add barrel curvature, chromatic aberration, vignette, GPU-accelerated bloom, and a CRT terminal — is planned but not yet implemented. Settings that depend on WebGL are labelled as such and currently have no visible effect.

Quick start

The first time Fosfori activates it asks whether to open all files in the CRT editor. Choose Enable for all files and any file you open gets the CRT look. (Your answer is remembered; the prompt won't appear again.)

1. Run Fosfori: Settings to tune the look, pick a theme, and toggle Fosfori on/off.
2. Or run Fosfori: Select Theme to switch theme quickly.

Turn it off anytime from the Enable Fosfori toggle in settings, or run Fosfori: Disable. To use the CRT editor for just one file without enabling it globally, use Open With… → Fosfori CRT Editor.
