KILO Voice-to-Code

Unofficial companion for Kilo Code on Remote-SSH.

Kilo’s built-in voice works locally. This extension adds reliable speech-to-text when you code over SSH: mic on your laptop → STT via nsdb.com + your AI keys → text into Kilo chat.

Quick start

1. Install KILO Voice-to-Code and open the Voice side panel (activity bar icon).
2. A free seat key is created automatically (or Subscribe / Set seat API key).
3. BYOK tab → choose xAI — Grok STT (default) or OpenAI — Whisper → paste API key → Save.
4. Start recording (or Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+V) → speak → Stop & send to STT.
5. Transcript is pasted into Kilo. Optional: enable Auto-Post Prompt to submit with Cmd/Ctrl+Enter.

Auto-Post Prompt: after paste, sends Cmd/Ctrl+Enter to Kilo. First-time use may ask for security permission.

Requirements

1. Local mic tools (sox or ffmpeg) — on your laptop

This is a UI extension: capture runs on the machine with the VS Code/Cursor UI (including Remote-SSH windows).

Do not rely on installing these only on the SSH server. Without them, recording is a silent stub.

2. Seat key (kv2c_…)

Auto free key, Stripe Checkout success, or command Set API Key.

3. BYOK key

OpenAI and/or xAI key on the BYOK tab (or dashboard Settings). Pathway must match a saved key.

Privacy & security

• Audio is sent to nsdb, then to your configured STT provider (OpenAI or xAI).
• Seat and BYOK keys are stored for your account; dashboard can reveal BYOK keys when signed in.
• Clipboard is temporarily used for paste, then restored when possible (text everywhere; images best-effort on macOS/Windows/Linux).
