Nobcode AI for VS Code

Your Nobcode AI Coding AI, right where you write code: chat about your code, get help with a single line, accept suggestions as you type, and work on your Code Lab projects from ai.nobco.de as ordinary folders.

Requires a Nobcode AI account with Premium. Sign-in takes a few seconds: your browser opens, you compare a short code and click Connect.

Features

Chat about your code

Open Nobcode AI in the Activity Bar and ask. The open file and your selection go along automatically (toggle it with the chip above the input; add more files with Add file).

• Answers stream in with syntax-highlighted code.
• A code block for a file of your workspace shows Apply…: the change opens as a diff, ✓ Apply Change writes it as one edit (Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes it).
• Insert puts code at the cursor, New file opens it in a new editor.
• Your VS Code chats are normal Nobcode AI code chats: continue any of them on ai.nobco.de (Open Chat in Browser), or pick up a web chat in VS Code (Recent Chats).

Line help

Right-click → Nobcode AI:

The lightbulb offers Fix with Nobcode AI for errors the editor shows. Shortcuts: Ctrl+Alt+N / Cmd+Alt+N opens the chat, Ctrl+Alt+E explains, Ctrl+Alt+A asks.

Inline completions

Suggestions appear as grey text after a short pause in typing; Tab accepts. Turn them off with the Nobcode item in the status bar or the nobcode.completions.enabled setting.

Code Lab projects

The Code Lab projects view lists your projects. Open Project adds one to the workspace as a folder:

• Saving a file in VS Code saves it on ai.nobco.de.
• If the same file was changed in the browser meanwhile, nothing is overwritten. A change to another file is merged.
• You can also Download a project to a local folder or Upload a folder as a new project.

Usage and limits

Requests count toward your Nobcode AI usage, the same as on ai.nobco.de. The chat shows how much of the 5-hour and weekly windows is used.

Privacy

• Your code goes to Nobcode AI's server in Germany: the message, the open file and selection, files you add, and the code around the cursor for completions.
• Demanding requests and completions can be answered by Google Gemini, as described in the Nobcode AI privacy policy.
• To keep everything on Nobcode's own server, switch off Cloud help for demanding requests in Settings on ai.nobco.de.
• The sign-in token is kept in your system's keychain. You can disconnect it at any time under VS Code on ai.nobco.de.
