Delta Code
Offline-first VS Code extension for AI coding against Delta or any OpenAI-compatible API. Set a base URL, paste an API key from Delta Desktop, pick a model, chat with streaming, and apply file edits from fenced code blocks.

API key (Delta Desktop)
- Open Delta Desktop and create an API key (API / keys section).
- In VS Code, open the Delta Code chat panel.
- Paste the key → Save key (stored in VS Code SecretStorage, never in
settings.json).
- Click Fetch models.
You can also use Command Palette → Delta Code: Set API Key.
Requests send Authorization: Bearer <key>. If Delta returns 401/403, the extension prompts you to create or fix the key in Delta Desktop.
Develop / run
npm install
npm run build
Then press F5 (Run Extension) to open an Extension Development Host, or:

Other OpenAI-compatible hosts work the same way — point deltaCode.baseUrl at e.g. Ollama (http://127.0.0.1:11434/v1) or your own gateway and paste that host’s key if required.
Use
- Open the Delta Code activity bar icon → Chat.
- Open Settings (gear) → Providers. Use a preset (Delta Local / Ollama / LM Studio / OpenAI), or Add provider with a custom name + base URL. Paste your API key, Save, then Fetch models.
- Pick a model from the composer chip, toggle Chat / Agent mode, or use Settings → Models.
- Chat across sessions: ＋ new session, ↻ history / recent list on the welcome screen.
- In Agent mode the model can call tools (
read_file, list_dir, search_files, write_file with approval).
- When the assistant returns a fenced block with a path, use Apply / Preview (only shown when applyable blocks exist):

Offline guarantees
- No telemetry or analytics endpoints
- Webview has no CDN scripts — UI is bundled in the extension
- Runtime network traffic goes only to your configured
baseUrl
- API keys stay in SecretStorage on the machine
