Next3D 3D Thumbnail Generator

Generate PNG thumbnails for local 3D model files directly in VSCode.

Features

• Right-click .glb, .gltf, or .stl files and choose Generate 3D Thumbnail.
• Saves thumbnails next to the source file as <name>-thumbnail.png.
• Runs locally in a VSCode Webview using Three.js.
• Supports transparent, white, gray, and dark backgrounds.
• Supports front, front 3/4, and top camera presets.

• GLB
• GLTF with nearby .bin and texture dependencies
• STL

Settings

• next3dThumbnail.size: 512 or 1200
• next3dThumbnail.background: transparent, white, gray, or dark
• next3dThumbnail.cameraPreset: front34, front, or top

Privacy

The extension renders thumbnails locally. It does not upload model files to Next3D or any remote server.
