Azure Machine Learning - Remote (Web) Extension

This extension is used to seamlessly connect to a remote Azure ML Compute Instance with Visual Studio Code for the Web. The extension is intended to be used strictly with Azure Machine Learning service and the only entry point is the Azure Machine Learning Studio (see below for more details).

Once connected to the compute instance, you can:

Run and debug Python scripts and Notebooks, executing directly on the CI
Traverse the remote filesystem and mounted fileshare
Invoke commands in the VS Code Terminal window
Clone and manage git repos

This extension and its capabilities are currently in private preview. If you are not an internal Microsoft employee, please sign-up through this onboarding form.

Quick Start

Navigate to the Azure Machine Learning Studio (ml.azure.com).
Invoke the “VS Code Web” link from either the Notebook or Compute tabs. a. [Compute] The VS Code Web link is under the Applications column in the list of your compute instances.

b. [Notebook] Click on the "Editors" dropdown and choose the "Edit in VS Code Web" option.
A new vscode.dev tab will be open and the Azure Machine Learning – Remote (Web) extension will be used to set up your connection.
