Spotlite
Flag lines to keep them in focus — unflagged code dims so you can concentrate on what matters.
Features
Spotlight lines to pin them at full brightness; everything else dims.
Cursor line spotlight — follow your cursor live as you navigate, no manual flagging needed.
Adjustable opacity — tune how much dimmed lines fade into the background.
Syntax color preservation — dim using opacity instead of overriding token colors.
Flags persist across VS Code sessions per workspace.
Usage
Spotlight lines
Open any file. Nothing dims until at least one line is flagged (or cursor highlight is on).
Select one or more lines, then right-click in the editor → Spotlight Selected Lines , or press Cmd+K Cmd+H (macOS) / Ctrl+K Ctrl+H (Windows/Linux).
Cursor line spotlight
Automatically dims all lines except the one your cursor is on — no flags required, updates live as you move.
Press Cmd+K Cmd+J (macOS) / Ctrl+K Ctrl+J (Windows/Linux) to toggle it on/off.
Or open the settings panel (gear icon in the editor title bar) and use the Spotlight active line switch.
Works alongside manual flags — both flagged lines and the cursor line stay at full brightness simultaneously.
Settings panel
Click the newly added "Color contrast" icon in the editor title bar to open the Spotlite settings tab:
