Instagram-style stories for developers, directly in your VS Code sidebar.

Features

  • Image stories — share screenshots, coding setups, or any moment with crop controls and captions
  • Text stories — post text on colored backgrounds with custom fonts and colors
  • Stories viewer — tap through stories with progress bars, keyboard navigation, and zoom
  • Likes & comments — react to stories, reply to comments, and see real-time notifications
  • User profiles — set your display name, bio, avatar, GitHub and LinkedIn links
  • GitHub sign-in — one-click device flow authentication
  • 24-hour expiry — stories automatically disappear after a day

Getting Started

  1. Click the Dev Stories icon in the activity bar
  2. Set the API URL (or use the default)
  3. Register a username or sign in with GitHub
  4. Click + Photo or Aa Text to create your first story
  5. Browse stories from developers worldwide

How It Works

  • Open VS Code and click the Dev Stories icon in the activity bar
  • Register a username and login (or use GitHub sign-in)
  • Click + Photo to share an image, or Aa Text for a text story
  • Stories expire after 24 hours — view what devs around the world are up to
