MareArts MSYS — System Monitor
See your computer while you code. CPU, memory, GPU and temperature sit in the status bar and in the MareArts MSYS side bar; one click opens the full MareArts MSYS console in the panel; and the AI agent in VS Code or Cursor can read the same numbers through MSYS's read-only tools.
On Remote SSH the extension runs on the server you are connected to, so the status bar shows that machine — the GPU box you are training on, not your laptop.
What you get
|
|
| Status bar |
CPU 23% RAM 46% GPU 52% 43°C — the first GPU and the hottest CPU or board sensor. Hover for memory, swap, every GPU, disk and network speeds. It turns amber while an alert is on (CPU, memory, swap, disk space or a temperature over its limit) |
| Side bar |
The MareArts MSYS icon in the activity bar: Open the full console at the top, then CPU, memory, each GPU, the hottest sensor, disk and network, live |
| Console |
Click the status bar or the side bar (or run MareArts MSYS: Open Console): CPU per core, memory, GPUs, sensors, file systems, disk I/O, network, connections, containers and the busiest processes. Press h for the keys — sort, filter, show or hide each part, read faster or slower |
| AI agent |
MSYS's tools are added to the editor's MCP servers by themselves: Copilot's agent mode or Cursor's agent can ask "what is using my GPU?" or "watch the CPU for a minute". Every tool only reads |
Needs MareArts MSYS
The extension uses the free marearts-msys command (Windows, Linux, macOS; Python 3.10 or newer). If it is not installed, the status bar says MSYS: install and the side bar shows an Install MareArts MSYS button: click either and the install line is typed into a terminal for you to run (MSYS shows up by itself when it is done):
python3 -m pip install --user --upgrade marearts-msys
On Windows: py -m pip install --user --upgrade marearts-msys. If the command lives somewhere unusual, set MareArts MSYS › Path in your user settings.

Safe by design
- Reads only. MSYS changes nothing on your computer; the one file it writes is its own console view.
- Local only. The extension talks to MSYS over standard input and output on the same machine. It sends nothing over the network and collects no data.
- Nothing installed behind your back. The install line is typed for you; it runs when you press Enter.
- Light. Each status bar reading takes a few milliseconds; the full console uses about 8 % of one core at a 1-second interval.

About MareArts

MareArts · Computer Vision Lab is a computer vision research lab. We teach machines to see: to find and read what is in images and video, to join many cameras into one live picture, and to run vision AI fast on everyday computers. We turn that research into tools for people and for the AI agents they work with.
