Native File Copy (Explorer to Clipboard)

Copy files directly from VS Code Explorer to your clipboard as actual file objects.

Standard VS Code copy only copies the path or the text content. This extension copies the files themselves (File Drop List).

This allows you to paste (Ctrl+V) selected files directly into:

  • 🤖 AI Chats: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini
  • 🌐 Browsers: GitHub upload, Google Drive, OneDrive
  • 💬 Messengers: Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams
  • 📂 Operating System: Windows Explorer (to copy files to another folder)

Features

  • ✅ Multi-selection support: Select multiple files and copy them at once.
  • ✅ Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + C (while in Explorer).
  • ✅ Context Menu: Right-click files -> "Copy Files (Native)".
  • ✅ Native Format: Simulates standard Windows file copying behavior.
  • 🚀 Perfect for AI workflows: Quickly upload context files to ChatGPT/Claude without drag & drop.

Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 / 11 (PowerShell 5.1 or newer installed).
